Remaining true to his Appalachian heritage of creating decorative objects from common raw materials,
Harry Wilson began relief carving on eggshells in 1997 and expanded into creating carved and jeweled
eggs as his skills developed.
The four time award winning artist was initially trained by a master carver from Nevada who had been
commissioned to create eggs for celebrities such as Debbie Reynolds, Wayne Newton and many
others.
Known to most people in the arts as the Eggman, Harry has been selected four times to showcase his
work at the Governors Residence in Ohio during the holiday season. Treasures of the Tree was an
adjudicated event and only 50 pieces were selected each year from five regional art centers throughout
Ohio. Mr. Wilsons won his awards in competition at the Cleveland regional art center.
Harry's art is appreciated by a variety of people as his work ranges from small etched chicken eggs to
highly ornate ostrich eggs. His work has been featured in several newspapers including the Columbus
Dispatch and been sold or displayed in small arts and crafts shops, the Capitol Building in Columbus
and even been sold at auction in Chicago by representatives from Sotheby's.
A retired educator of 35 years, Harry and his wife Joan are the proud parents of two daughters and live
in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
